Osaka Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan located in western Honshu. The capital is Osaka, and it is a part of the Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto metropolitan area, forming its center. The region was occupied by Kawachi Province, Izumi Province, and Settsu Province until 1871, and the region had a population of 8,864,228 people in 2012.
