Orlaith of Eire (born 14 May 1049), also known as Orla O'Connor in English, was Queen of Ireland from 1090 with King Einri of Eire.
Biography[]
Orlaith was born to a family of low birth on 14 May 1049 in what is now County Donegal, Ireland. Orlaith married into the Clan O'Connor of Tyrconnell when she married the future King Einri of Eire, who was just the Earl of Tyrconnell at the time of their marriage in 1066. Orlaith gave birth to the future Eochaid of Ulaidh in 1066, followed by Focarta of Airgialla in 1068, Cobflaith nic Einri in 1074, Be-Fail nic Einri in 1083, and Caitilin nic Einri in 1085. She truly loved her husband, and she was named designated regent by her husband, who trusted her with leading Ireland if he was incapable to lead. She led Ireland while her husband went on crusade in the Levant, although her husband would return home after being wounded in battle. Orlaith was known to have a negative personality, as she was wroth and deeitful, but she made for a great queen of Ireland, as she bore Einri several children and managed his realm while he was away on crusade.
