Orissa & Circars is a region of northeastern India, with the capital at Cuttack.

History[]

Orissa & Circars was originally a region of the Mughal Empire made up of 1,084,053 people (60.6% Hindu, 39.4% Islam). The region's resources were predominantly mining and industry, although farming was also a resource. In summer of 1704 the region became a province of the Maratha Confederacy after the capture of Cuttack. It was vital for trading, and rioted twice during the 1710s and 1720s due to industrialization. In 1750, the population grew to 3,300,460, rapidly growing.
