Oregon Trail

The Oregon Trail was a long wagon route and emigrant trail that began in Independence, Missouri and ended at the Pacific Ocean in Oregon, both in the United States. The trail was established from 1811 to 1840 by fur trappers, and the trail was originally only passable by foot or horseback. Eventually, the trails were cleared for wagons, and bridges, cutoffs, ferries, and roads were built, facilitating travel.
