Operation Primetime (5 August 2006) was a United States military operation of the Afghanistan War that took place in the villages near Karam, Afghanistan. The US Marine Corps successfully defended the ISAF base before pushing into the nearby villages and forcing the Taliban out.

History[]

The Taliban raided the ISAF base at Karam in August 2006, leading to the US Marine Corps sending more troops to help the ISAF forces in pushing the Taliban out of the nearby villages. The Americans sent in marines to capture the villages, engaging the Taliban in close-quarters fighting between the many houses in the villages, some of which were damaged by mortar shells or grenades. The fighting led to the Taliban being forced from the area, with the Americans emerging victorious against the insurgents.
