Operation Parastina Bajaran was a counter-terrorism operation launched by Kurdish YPG and YPJ units and American special forces against ISIL insurgents in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, Syria during the Syrian Civil War. The operation was carried out with the purpose of destroying ISIL's supply caches and driving ISIL fighters from a small desert village, and the Coalition forces gradually moved through the town and cleared out ISIL strongpoints. The Kurds and Americans were supported by missile strikes, airstrikes, and gunship support, and the Americans used their air support to capture ISIL strongholds and repel strong ISIL counterattacks. The Kurds were pushed back during their first attack, but, during their second attack, they drove ISIL back to the river and pressed on to capture ISIL's last strongpoint in the village, which they held against ISIL recapture attempts. The operation was a success, with ISIL being cleared from the village and its regional operations disrupted.
