Operation Days of Repentance was a series of airstrikes carried out by the Israeli Air Force against Iranian military targets on 26 October 2024 in response to Iran's previous missile attack on Israel on 1 October.
Although American intelligence on Israel's planned retaliation against Iran was leaked on 18 October 2024, the Israel Defense Forces went ahead with their planned operation on 26 October. Israel notified both the American and Iranian governments shortly before the strikes, warning the Iranians not to respond. Over 100 Israeli aircraft traveled roughly 1,200 miles for the attack, destroying radar sites in Syria to prevent Iran from gaining intelligence on Israel's intentions. Early on the morning of 26 October, explosions occurred across Tehran, Karaj, Mashhad, Kermanshah, and Zanjan. Israel targeted an Iranian UAV factory, a secret base in Tehran, S-300 batteries, and ballistic missile sites, including the air defense system at Imam Khomeini Internationla Airport. Multiple IRGC missile bases were hit, followed by a second wave of drone strikes targeting the Parchin military complex on Tehran's outskirts. Four IRGC soldiers were killed, and Israel's destruction of 12 planetary mixers essential for producing solid-fuel missiles crippled Iran's capability to replenish its missile stockpile. US officials theorized that it would take Iran at least a year to resume its missile production.
