Operation Compound (2007) was a military operation carried out by the US Marine Corps during the Afghanistan War. The Taliban mounted a raid on the ISAF base of Karam, so the US Marines were dispatched to maintain control of the base and the surrounding area, but the Taliban overwhelmed the base and won a propaganda coup.
History[]
The Taliban mounted a raid on a Coalition forward operating base in Afghanistan, and the US Marine Corps was dispatched to reinforce the base, as the base controlled the surrounding areas. The Marines fought over control of the village where the Taliban insurgents rallied, and Muhsin Eid launched several assaults on the American base, where British soldiers used to live. Now, the Americans were the only Coalition forces at the ISAF base, and they were overwhelmed by the insurgents. The Taliban took over the base and village, winning a propaganda coup and taking over the surrounding areas.
