
Opal Tometi (1984-) is a leader of the Black Lives Matter movement in the United States.
Biography[]
Opal Tometi was born to a family of Nigerian-Americans in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. She later moved to Brooklyn in New York City, and she became a speaker on the issues of feminism and African-American rights; in 2013, she was one of the three women who created the Black Lives Matter movement alongside Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garza.
