Ollie Agee was an African-American Methodist preacher from Canton, Mississippi who was the reverend of the Mount Zion CME Church. He was an important black community leader during the 1980s, and, in 1984, he met his childhood hero, Reverend Isaiah Street. Street brought several NAACP representatives with him to help Agee and the black community campaign for Carl Lee Hailey's acquittal from murder charges.
