
Oliverio Gusti "the Peaceful" (1046-1148) was a Bishop of the College of Cardinals. Originally from the Venetian Republic in their territory of Tuscany, he was elected as a Cardinal for his piety. After the capture of Dalmatia by the Kingdom of Castile, he died.
Biography[]
Gusti was born in Tuscany, and was elected to the College of Cardinals in 1080. Since Milan already had a cardinal, he was elected to represent the Republic of Venice in the college. Gusti was called "The Peaceful" because he was a benevolent man, and he was a leading candidate for the 1085 Papal Elections.
He died in 1148 at the ripe old age of 102, after having witnessed the fall of Zagreb to Spanish Army troops.
