Oliver Riegel

Oliver Riegel (born 1896) was a German pilot who served in the Luftstreitkraefte during World War I. He served in Manfred von Richthofen's squadron in France during the war, and, on 9 November 1918, the squadron's last few members were ordered by new squadron leader Hermann Goering to crash-land their planes on German soil rather than turn their planes over to the Allies. Like the other squadron members, he came to believe in the "stab-in-the-back myth" due to Goering's passionate speeches.
