
Oleg Yurievich Mityaev (1974-) was a Russian Army Major-General who commanded the 150th Rifle Division during the Syrian Civil War and the Russo-Ukrainian War.
Biography[]
Oleg Yurievich Mityaev was born in Orenburg, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1974, and he graduated from the Soviet Army's Suvorov Military School in 1991 and went on to rise in the ranks of the Russian Army. Mityaev commanded the 11th Guards Air Assault Brigade from 2013 to 2015, and he served as deputy commander of the Russian forces in Syria during the Syrian Civil War before being promoted to Major-General in 2016. He rose to command the 150th Rifle Division during the Russo-Ukrainian War, and he was reportedly killed by the Azov Battalion during the 2022 Siege of Mariupol, which would have made him the fourth Russian general to have been killed during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, he was transferred to another position after his near-death experience.
