The Oireachtas is the legislature of Ireland, consisting of the President, the 60-seat Seanad Eireann upper house, and the 158-seat Dail Eireann lower house. The houses of the Oireachtas sit in the Leinster House of the Irish capital of Dublin, and the Dail is by far the most powerful branch of the Oireachtas, as it has the power to pass any law that it wishes, as well as the power to nominate or remove the Taoiseach (Prime Minister); the Seanad is merely an advisory body.
