Ohio is one of the fifty states of the United States, located in the Midwest. Ohio became a state in 1803 after the United States acquired the Ohio Country after the American Revolutionary War, and Ohio's state capital is Colombus; Cincinnati and Cleveland are two other major cities. Ohio has been home to six US presidents, and it is notorious as a swing state. The state had a population of 11,613,423 in 2015, with 82.7% being whites, 12.2% African-Americans, 1.7% Asians, .03% Pacific Islanders, 2.1% multiracial, and 1.1% other.
