Odori Park is a park located in the heart of Sapporo, Hokkaido. The park was created by Shima Yoshitake in 1869, and a flower garden was constructed in 1876. During World War II, the park was given over to potato production, and, after the war, Odori Park became a garbage and snow dumping ground. During the Allied occupation of Japan, American troops build a baseball field and tennis court, after which Odori Park was redeveloped into a park and came to host the Sapporo Snow Festival after 1950.
