Oaxaca is a state of southwestern Mexico, with Oaxaca de Juarez serving as its capital. The state borders Guerrero to the west, Pueblo to the northwest, Veracruz to the north, and Chiapas to the east. The state is known for its indigenous peoples and cultures, with the Zapotecs and Mixtecs originating in the state. In 2015, Oaxaca had a population of 3,967,889 people.
