The Oberkommando des Heeres (OKH) was the supreme high command of the Heer of Nazi Germany. The OKH was founded in 1935 as Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party re-militarized Germany, and the OKH was responsible for the strategic planning of armies and army groups. The Chiefs of Staff of the OKH in order were:
- Ludwig Beck (1935-31 October 1938)
- Franz Halder (31 October 1938-24 September 1942)
- Kurt Zeitzler (24 September 1942-10 July 1944)
- Adolf Heusinger (10-20 July 1944)
- Heinz Guderian (21 July 1944-28 March 1945)
- Hans Krebs (29 March-1 May 1945)
- Wilhelm Keitel (1-13 May 1945)
- Alfred Jodl (13-23 May 1945)
The OKH is not to be confused with the OKW, the supreme high command of the Wehrmacht (armed forces) of Nazi Germany, as the OKH was solely responsible for the Wehrmacht land forces and not for the entire military.
