
Nur Hassan Hussein (2 February 1938-1 April 2020) was Prime Minister of Somalia from 24 November 2007 to 14 February 2009, succeeding Salim Aliyow Ibrow and preceding Omar Sharmarke.
Biography[]
Nur Hassan Hussein was born in Italian Somaliland in 1938, and he worked as a police officer and attorney general under Siad Barre before serving as Secretary-General of the Somali Red Crescent during the Somali Civil War. He served as Prime Minister of the Transitional Federal Government from 2007 to 2009, pushing for peace and unity and attempting to crack down on corruption. He was later dismissed by President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, and he became Ambassador to Italy in 2009. He died of COVID-19 in 2020.
