Numerius Didius Profuterius

Numerius Didius Profuterius (260-216 BC) was a Roman Army soldier who served as a triarius in one of the eight newly-raised legions under the command of the consuls Gaius Terentius Varro and Lucius Aemilius Paullus during the Second Punic War. In 216 BC, he and 48,000 other legionaries were killed in battle with Hannibal's Carthaginian army at the disastrous Battle of Cannae in Apulia.
