The North Ossetian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was an autonomous republic of the Russian SFSR that existed from 1936 to 1992, with Vladikavkaz serving as its capital. The republic became the Russian federal subject of North Ossetia-Alania after the Dissolution of the Soviet Union.
