North Holland is a province of the Netherlands in the northwest of the country, with Haarlem serving as its capital and Amsterdam being its largest city. In 1840, Holland was divided into North Holland and South Holland, and North Holland came to include the large cities of Amsterdam and Haarlem; in 2019, North Holland had a population of 2,877,909 people.
