The North Dakota Highway Patrol is the state patrol agency for the US state of North Dakota, formed in 1935. State troopers spend 22 weeks in training in Bismarck, and they are trained to act individually and to practice responsibility, owing to their small size; the police force had just 192 troopers in 2004.
