The North China Area Army was a field army of the Imperial Japanese Army which existed from 21 August 1937 to 15 August 1945, headquartered in Beijing, China. The North China Area Army was responsible for directing and coordinating Japanese operations in northern China during the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the army operated for nearly the whole war, with General Sadamu Shimomura surrendering the army on 15 August 1945.
By the end of the war, it consisted of the Japanese 1st, 12th, and 43rd Armies. Throughout the conflict it was subordinated to the China Expeditionary Army.
