Biography[]

Norishige Obata was born in Ise Province to a loyalist commander, Hideyoshi Obata. He followed in his father's footsteps as a general for the shogunate, and was given charge of a large unit. In 1545, he took part in an Uesugi clan-led coalition that besieged Kawagoe Castle, a castle owned by the Hojo clan. Norishige was lured out and killed by Ujiyasu Hojo, the daimyo who led the defending forces alongside Tsunashige Hojo.
