The Nogai Horde was a Turkic-Mongol tribal confederation which ruled over the North Caucasus and the southern Russian steppe from the 1440s to 1634, It was founded by Nogai Khan amid the disintegration of the Golden Horde, with the Mongol Manghit tribe allying with several Turkic tribes to form a new Mongol horde which engaged in slave raids in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, and Poland in the Tatars' "harvesting of the steppe". The main horde was broken up by the Kalmyk Khanate in 1632, and the Tsardom of Russia conquered the rest of the horde in 1634. It lent its name to the Turkic Nogais.
