Nobuhide Oda

Nobuhide Oda (born 1510) was the daimyo of the Oda clan and Lord of Owari Province.

Biography[]

The son of Nobusada Oda, Nobuhide was a respected daimyo who led the Owari Province-based Oda clan, who were unstable and divided by the time of the Sengoku Jidai in 1545.

Nobuhide defeated Teruaki Oda, his brother, in a succession war, completing the unification of the Oda, and he married Miyo Saito to a member of his family, making an alliance with Dosan Saito.

Later in 1545, he faced an invading army of 6,000 Tokugawa troops under Hirotada Tokugawa and Hidenaga Matsudaira, who made it to a few miles north of the border between the Owari and Mikawa Provinces. Aided by Muneyori Takayama, Nobuhide won a close victory, inflicting 5200 losses with only 2890 dead.
