The Nobeoka Domain was a feudal domain of Japan that existed from 1603 to 1864/1871, founded by Tadaoki Naito. The domain supported the Tokugawa Shogunate during the Boshin War.
History[]

Nobeoka troops
Ever since loyal Tokugawa general Tadaoki Naito fought for Ieyasu Tokugawa at the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, the Naito clan was an ally of the Tokugawa. They were awarded the sizeable Nobeoka Domain of Hyuga Province in Kyushu, and their capital was Saito. The Nobeoka remained loyal to the Tokugawa during the Boshin War in the 1860s, and they went to war with the rival Satsuma Domain, an Imperial clan.
The Nobeoka were the first clan to fight the Satsuma during the war, and their leader Naito Munefusa led the Nobeoka forces in the defense of Saito in summer of 1864. Despite their brave attempts to lift the Satsuma siege of their capital, the Nobeoka forces were crushed when their capital fell.
