Nikolaus von Richthofen was a general of Prussia at the time of the Franco-Prussian War in 1870-71. Richthofen commanded the 57,000-strong I Garde Korps in the capital of Berlin, and he led this army during the push into northern France; he defeated the French Army at Nancy.
