Nikolaus von Hindenburg

Nikolaus von Hindenburg (16 January 1835 - 12 May 1896) was a German General der Kavallerie in the Imperial German Army. A brilliant staff officer and tactician, he rose through the ranks quickly. He was notable for commanding the V Corps during the War of the Guangdong Concession in 1892-93, the German Empire's successful land grab in China. After that he remained in German East Asia as the commander of the II China Corps.

He was related to the field marshal and Weimar Republic president Paul von Hindenburg.
