Nikolai Andreyevich Ishutin (3 April 1840-5 January 1879) was a Russian narodnik revolutionary and utopian socialist leader during the 19th century.
Biography[]
Nikolai Andreyevich Ishutin was born on 3 April 1840 in Serdobsk, Russian Empire, and he was raised in Penza. In 1863, he became a lecturer at Moscow State University, and he issued propaganda to his students and founded a revolutionary society. In 1866, after his cousin Dmitry Karakozov failed to assassinate Czar Aleksandr II of Russia, Ishutin was sentenced to death by hanging, but his sentence was commuted at the last minute. He died in exile in Kara Katorga, Transbaikal in 1879.
