Nikema Williams (born 30 July 1978) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-GA 5) from 3 January 2021, succeeding Kwanza Hall.
Biography[]
Nikema Williams was born in Smiths Station, Alabama in 1978, the great-niece of Autherine Lucy. She later moved to Atlanta, Georgia and joined the state Democratic Party's youth wing and went on to serve as vice-president for public policy at Planned Parenthood. Williams was elected to the State Senate in 2017, succeeding Vincent Fort, and, in 2020, she was elected to the US House of Representatives to succeed the late civil rights hero John Lewis. In the meantime, Kwanza Hall was elected to represent the seat in the interim.
