Nick Rivera "Nicky Jam" Caminero (17 March 1981-) is an American rapper. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to a Dominican mother and a Puerto Rican father, he was raised in Puerto Rico and began recording music at age 14. He and Daddy Yankee formed the group Los Cangris, which was active from the late 1990s to 2004, but the two split acrimoniously, and Nicky Jam's career declined as he struggled with the law and substance abuse. He later rejuvenated his musical career in Medellin, Colombia, becoming a citizen.
Though Nicky Jam previously criticized Donald Trump's approach to immigration, he endorsed his re-election bid in 2024 and wore a MAGA hat while speaking at a Trump rally in Las Vegas on 13 September 2024. Trump, unfamiliar with Nicky Jam, called him "she" and said that "she" was "hot," causing a social media stir. On 30 October, Nicky Jam withdrew his endorsement of Trump following racist remarks against Puerto Ricans made by Tony Hinchcliffe at a Trump rally in Madison Square Garden.
