Nicole "Nicki" Burke (born 1940) was a lieutenant of New Orleans' Irish Mob under her father, Thomas Burke.
Biography[]
Nicole Burke was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1940, the daughter of Irish immigrants Thomas and Sarah Burke and the younger sister of Danny Burke. Her father became the leader of the Burke Gang, a powerful Irish Mob criminal organization that controlled the Irish Channel district (nicknamed "Irish Point" due to its large Irish population). Burke and her brother had limited roles within their father's organization, with Nicki becoming one of her father's lieutenants from their base at the Burke's Iron & Metal scrapyard. Nicki was abused by her alcoholic and psychopathic father for many reasons, especially because she was a lesbian and had a girlfriend named Darlene. Nicki also blamed her brother Danny's 1968 murder on the actions of her father, as Danny would not be dead had Thomas Burke decided not to send him to assist the Marcano crime family with its robbery of the Louisiana Federal Reserve Bank. Nicki Burke helped Lincoln Clay with taking down Roman Barbieri and his crew and taking over Irish Channel for the Irish Mob, and she would also assist Clay and her father with taking over other parts of the city. Decades later, she would look back on her father with hatred, and she left a life of crime behind. In 2016, she was interviewed about the 1968 gang violence for a documentary film.
