Peretti and Appleton spying on Brown

Nick Peretti was born in New York City, New York in 1959 to a family of Italian descent, and he was once himself a drug addict. Peretti recovered and became an NYPD officer, and he became known as a loose cannon, once even getting his partner killed. In 1990, Mario Stone had Peretti partnered with Scotty Appleton during the takedown of Nino Brown's Cash Money Brothers gang. Peretti often acted racist in front of Appleton, calling some things "a black thing" and insulting the African-American community. However, the two later became close after the death of their informant Pookie Robinson at Brown's hands, and Peretti said that death did not discriminate by skin color, and revealed his past history with drugs to Appleton.

Peretti and Appleton would go undercover to infiltrate the Cash Money Brothers gang, pretending to be drug dealers and bribing Mafia member Frankie Needles to introduce them to CMB member Gee Money. From there, they became associates of the CMB gang, and Peretti succeeded in infiltrating Brown's mansion and stealing evidence of his financial transactions. He later took part in a sting operation against Brown, and he saved Appleton from the CMB gangsters after Kareem Akbar revealed that Appleton was an undercover cop; Peretti killed the Duh Duh Duh Man. The two would storm Brown's mansion and capture Brown, who was later killed by a concerned citizen after leaving the courthouse, having been sentenced to just one year in prison. Peretti and Appleton were satisfied by his death, having destroyed the evil drug lord.
