Nicholas Ware

Nicholas Ware (16 February 1776 – 7 September 1824) was a US Senator from Georgia (DR) from 10 November 1821 to 7 September 1824 (succeeding Freeman Walker and preceding Thomas W. Cobb).

Biography[]

Nicholas Ware was born in Caroline County, Virginia in 1776, and he later moved with his family to Edgefield, South Carolina and a few years later to Augusta, Georgia. From 1808 to 1811 and from 1814 to 1815, he served in the Georgia House of Representatives, and he served as Mayor of Augusta from 1819 to 1821. From 1821 to 1824, he served out a portion of the retired US Senator Freeman Walker's term, but Ware died in office in New York City in 1824.
