Nguyen Tranh Lam

Nguyen Tranh Lam (21 August 1939 – 21 January 1968) was a major of the North Vietnamese Army who was killed in the Battle of Khe Sanh.

Biography[]

Nguyen Tranh Lam was born in Hanoi in French Indochina on 21 August 1939. Nguyen joined the North Vietnamese Army in the 1950s and was made the major of a unit of NVA troops during the Vietnam War. Lam commanded a force of over 200 troops in an assault on the US Marine Corps base of Khe Sanh during the Tet Offensive in January 1968, and he was gunned down by US troops amidst a series of human wave attacks met with explosions and M60 fire.
