
Newark Penn Station is a major transportation hub in Newark, New Jersey. The station was opened on 24 March 1935, and it was supposed to serve as a New York-Pennsylvania express. The station was extensively renovated in 2007, with the restoration of the facade and historic interior materials. By 2014, it was the 14th busiest Amtrak station, serving as the western terminus of the Newark-World Trade Center line of the PATH train. Trains terminate on the upper level and return to service on the lower level. The station has eight tracks, and it serves about 27,189 people on an average weekday.
