The New York Knicks is an American professional basketball team that is based in Manhattan, New York City, founded in 1946. By 2017, the Knicks and the Boston Celtics were the only NBA teams to remain in their original cities, and the Knicks shared New York with the Brooklyn Nets. The Knicks were successful in their early years, but the Knicks began to decline during the 1950s. During the 1990s, Patrick Ewing led the Knicks to playoffs, and the Knicks became rivals with the Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, and Miami Heat. In 1994 and 1999, the Knicks appeared in the NBA Finals, but they were unable to win an NBA Championship. Since the 2000, the Knicks have struggled to regain their former glory, but Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire won the team its first division title in 19 years in the 2012-2013 season.
