New Jersey is one of the fifty states of the United States, located on the East Coast. It borders New York to the north, Pennsylvania to the west, Delaware to the southwest, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. New Jersey is a prosperous state, having the honor of being the second-wealthiest state by median household income in the country. The state was named for the island of Jersey in the English Channel, and the state became a center of industry, as Camden, Paterson, Newark, Trenton, and Elizabeth drove the Industrial Revolution. In 2015, the state had a population of 8,958,013, the most densely-populated state in the USA. 68.6% of the population is white, 13.7% African-Americans, .3% Native Americans, 8.3% Asian-Americans, 6.4% other, 2.7% multiracial; 17.7% are Latinos of any race.
