The Nevada Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the US state of Nevada. The Republican Party dominated the politics of Nevada from statehood in 1864 until the Democrats won the offices of governor, lieutenant governor, state treasurer, and attorney general in 1871. After the Great Depression, the citizens of Nevada preferred the Democratic Party over the Republican Party, and the party won most of the statewide races from 1932 to 1995. In 2018, the party dominated both the State Senate and the State House of Representatives by narrow margins. In March 2021, after five years of intra-party conflict, the party's progressive wing seized power from former US Senator Harry Reid's liberal faction, with DSA-backed candidates such as Judith Whitmer being elected to all of the party's leadership positions. The entire Nevada Democratic Party staff resigned in protest of the socialist takeover.
