The Neo-absolutists was a reactionary faction of Austrian politics that was active from 1836 to 1867. The faction supported an absolute monarchy and opposed all liberal reforms in the country; however, it supported religious freedom, a break from traditional ultra-conservative values. The faction went extinct in 1867 after the formation of Austria-Hungary.
