Ned Lamont

Edward Miner "Ned" Lamont (3 January 1954-) was the Democratic Governor of Connecticut from 9 January 2019, succeeding Dannel Malloy.

Biography[]

Edward Miner Lamont was born in Washington DC in 1954, the great-grandson of a JP Morgan chairman and the grand-nephew of Corliss Lamont. He was raised in Laurel Hollow, Long Island, New York, and he served as editor of the Black River Tribune in Ludlow, Vermont in 1977 before founding a telecommunications firm in Connecticut. He served on the Greenwich town finance board and mounted a failed bid for the US Senate in 2006 before becoming a college professor. In 2018, he was elected Governor of Connecticut, and he went from being one of the nation's least popular governors to among its most popular due to his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
