Nebraska is a state in the Midwest region of the United States on the Great Plains. The state was first explored during the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and the Gold Rush brought new settlers to the region. In 1867, Nebraska became the 37th state, and the state has since been a major producer of beef, pork, corn, and soybeans, being a mostly agricultural region. The state capital is Lincoln, while the largest city is Omaha; in 2015, the state had a population of 1,896,190 people.
