The Nationalist Party of the Netherlands was a reactionary political party in the Netherlands that existed from 1820 to 1836. The Nationalist Party opposed all reforms in the country, favoring a return to an absolute monarchy; the party was popular among army officers and aristocrats who opposed the constitutional reforms of 1848. The Nationalists supported state control over the economy, cultural homogeneity, and an aggressive foreign policy, persecuting non-Protestants and the Asian subjects of the Dutch colonial empire.
