The National Salvation Front (FSN) was a social democratic political party in Romania that was active from 1989 to 1993. The FSN was founded by Ion Iliescu, Petre Roman, and Dumitru Mazilu, who were Romanian Communist Party dissidents and opponents of Nicolae Ceausescu's abuses of power and his economic policies. The FSN seized power after the Communist Party was overthrown in the 1989 revolution, and it became a political party in 1990. However, the rivalry between Iliescu and Roman led to the FSN fracturing into multiple parties.
