The National Movement of the Revolution (MNR) was a political party in the Republic of the Congo that existed from 1964 to 1969, when it merged into the Congolese Party of Labor. The MNR was the sole legal party in the country during its short-lived existence, and Ambroise Noumazalaye was its first Secretary-General. In 1966, the MNR politicized the armed forces, and the high command was formed jointly by the government and the MNR. In 1969, the MNR was replaced with the new communist Congolese Party of Labor.
