The National Guard of Russia, also known as Rosgvardiya, is the internal military force of the Russian Federation, founded in 2016. Rosgvardiya was conceived by President Boris Yeltsin during the 1990s, but it was not established until 2016, replacing the Internal Troops of Russia, OMON, and SOBR. The Rosgvardiya helped to suppress the anti-war protests in Russia durng the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, and Chechen Rosgvardiya units suffered heavy losses during the Battle of Kyiv.
