The National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD)was a neo-Nazi and fascist political party in Germany which was founded on 28 November 1964 as the successor of the German Reich Party; it identified itself as "Germany's only significant patriotic force". The NPD was the most significant Nazi party to emerge after the end of World War II in 1945, and the party believed in German nationalism, xenophobia, populism, and anti-globalism, threatening constitutional order with its neo-Nazism and fascism. In 2003, efforts to ban the party failed, but it was unable to hold any seats in the Bundestag or the state parliaments, instead having one of Germany's 96 European Parliament seats in 2016. In 2023, the party renamed itself to The Homeland (Die Heimat).
