The National Bloc was a conservative and nationalist political party in Syria which existed from 1928 to 1948. It was founded by Ibrahim Hananu as a coalition of parties hostile to the French presence in Syria, and it was led by conservative landowners, tradesmen, lawyers, and the fifty most rich and powerful families in Syria. After Syrian independence in 1946, the National Bloc was torn apart by personal rivalries, and, in 1947, it split into the National Party of Syria and the People's Party of Syria.
